Built in the 17th century, Frewen is an impressive country house with renowned gardens and 30 hectares of beautiful grounds for students aged 13-17 years. The school is well-located in the beautiful Sussex countryside, near to Hastings, Battle and Rye.
At Frewen we test each student’s level of English shortly after arrival and then place them in a class according to their assessed level. The morning lessons focus on reading, writing, speaking and listening, and our afternoon lessons give students a chance to work on projects, presentations, discussions and debates. All students receive a certificate of course completion, an English Language report and an activity participation report at the end of their stay.
Frewen offers a wide selection of on-campus activities for all students to enjoy in the afternoon and evening sessions after English lessons. There are green playing fields for football and team games, a tennis court, outdoor volleyball, a large outdoor swimming pool, courts for 5-a-side football and basketball, and table tennis.
Day Trips
Frewen is well-placed for trips to a variety of attractive destinations. Visits include London for sightseeing and shopping; Buckingham Palace tour; Chelsea Football Club or Wembley Stadium; the London Eye; Brighton and the Sea Life Centre; Canterbury and its world-famous cathedral; Thorpe Park theme park; Leeds Castle and Ashford Outlet centre; Hever Castle and Royal Tunbridge Wells; Eastbourne and 10-pin bowling.
Social and Cultural Activities
The Frewen campus itself offers an intimate environment which students often describe as providing a big family atmosphere. The afternoon and evening activities include karaoke nights; the ‘Summer of Talent’ show; disco nights; quiz shows; the Frewen Fashion Night, campfire and songs and casino nights. They also offer arts and craft sessions, including tie-dye T-shirt design as well as cookery sessions.
