The School
Oundle is one of the largest and most famous boarding schools in England. Some of its buildings date back to the seventeenth century. Others are brand new and boast a whole host of contemporary features. In the centre of a small, charming market town it provides a safe, friendly environment for younger students, aged 9-14.
Students prepare for the Trinity examination at grade 1-9 (beginner to upper intermediate). These grades are aligned to levels pre A1-C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The exam fee is £45 and is in addition to course fee.
Students have the opportunity to mix and make friends with English boys and girls of a similar age. There’ll be one School Friend in each class at these centres, assisting students in the learning process. They’ll have lunch with the students, join in the afternoon activities on campus and go on half-day excursions during the week. It’s an ideal way for students to speak English naturally with English teenagers throughout the day.
The boarding houses are just a short walk from the Junior School and offer accommodation of a very high standard. Each has a capacity of 65 beds. Rooms are light and airy with modern furnishings. Their sizes range from single and twin to 3-5 bedded rooms - ideal for the course age range. Students eat in the Laxton dining hall, located 80 metres from the classrooms. Meals are self-service with three-course lunch and dinner menus. There is an outdoor BBQ on campus each week.
